José Cancela

Principal of Hispanic USA, INC

With direct in-market experience of the top 50 Hispanic Markets, few individuals possess the working knowledge of US Hispanic Market that José Cancela has accumulated over the last 25 years.

Cancela began his media career as a Sales Trainee at the Univision affiliate in Miami, WLTV/Channel 23, in 1979. From that start, he has spent the last 25 years dedicated to helping define Hispanic USA. From running his first TV station in Phoenix at the age of 27; managing the station groups for both Univision and Telemundo; launching a start up National Hispanic Radio Network, to even running for Mayor of Miami-Dade County, Cancela
brings unparalleled passion, energy, and commitment to everything he takes on, making him one of the most successful Hispanic Media Executives in the
country today.

He put that same energy and effort when he authored The Power of Business en Español:

7 Fundamental Keys to Unlocking the Potential of the Spanish-Language Hispanic Market, the first definitive handbook on understanding this ever-growing demographic.

His list of accomplishments includes being inducted into the Hispanic Business Magazine National Hall of Fame in 1998 for his contributions in developing the National Hispanic Media Sector. He was one of the early board members to the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Cancela was also recognized by the National Council for Community and Justice for his National Leadership in 2000.
