Film and Television Director
In 1982 he joined Radio Caracas Televisión to be part of its staff of directors. There he started a fruitful career which led him to the development of more than 30 telenovelas. Topacio, La dama de rosa y Mi amada Beatriz are some of the productions that have conquered audiences in every continent. In 1998 he was invited by Antena 3, La Voz de Galicia and Skyquest TV to go to Spain and direct the youth series Nada es para siempre. When he came back to Venezuela he was called by Venevision/Univision and was hired to develop the talk show Viviana a la medianoche.
His vast experience of telenovela, program and series direction in Venezuela and Spain, his many years working in the Venezuelan television industry and his mastery of direction opened the doors to Mexico and Miami. In 2004 he traveled to Mexico to direct TV Azteca’s telenovela La Heredera. pasiones, La viuda de blanco and Dame chocolate for Telemundo network.
Born in Caracas, Luis Manzo grew stronger as a director in the year 2000 when he made his directing debut with the feature film La pluma del arcángel, a story based on a telenovela by Uslar Pietri. This production was nominated to many awards and received many of them, among them we can highlight the Audience Award from the Miami Latin Film Festival and from the Trieste Film Festival in Italy.
In 2002, 54 countries submitted their new productions to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to compete for the coveted Oscar Award in the category of Best Foreign Film in Los Angeles, California, and among them was La pluma del arcángel. Manzo is a determined artist. His first contact with the Arts was through the Music and Plastic Arts, disciplines that influenced on the subsequent development of his brilliant professional work.
