Rumbaut & Company, Inc., is an internationally recognized media transaction and consulting firm and is a high level Advisor to some of the leading Spanish language media entities in the United States and Latin America and has been involved in significant media transactions in these regions. The company was established by Mr. Rumbaut in 1987 and is based in Miami, Florida.

The firm’s principal has a unique blend of skills in strategic, transactional and operating experience in the broadcasting industry in the United States and
Latin America.


He is or has been a Senior Advisor to Univision, Azteca America, TV Azteca, General Electric Credit Corporation, Metromedia and John Blair & Company.

Mr. Rumbaut’s operating experience is extensive as the Founder and President of WSCV-TV, Channel 51 in Miami / Ft.

 
 

Lauderdale, a genesis station for the Telemundo Network and Station Group. WSCV-TV reached a 40% audience share in prime time and news and was profitable 18 months after it began operations founding.

He was also Co-Founder, Vice President and General Manager of WSUA-AM, Miami, Florida and Station Manager of WQBA-AM & FM, Miami Florida, then owned by Susquehanna Broadcasting Company. Mr. Rumbaut’s professional experience also includes Sales and Management duties with United Artists Television and Westinghouse Broadcasting Company in Puerto Rico and New York City.

The company was retained on an exclusive basis by TV Azteca to secure television outlets in the
United States and has assisted in achieving a 89% penetration with over the air television outlets of
U.S. Hispanic households.

Specifically, the firm has advised;
- TV Azteca for the development and acquisitions for the company’s Latin America media strategy.
- Metromedia International for the development and acquisitions of the company’s Latin America
media strategy.
- General Electric Credit Corporation and Kidder, Peabody for strategic, development, transactional and operational matters related to the portfolio asset of WAPA-TV, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
- John Blair & Company for the development of their Spanish language television strategy in the mainland United States and Puerto Rico.
- The United States Information Agency and The White House for the design and development of the unique TV Marti project and for an independent evaluation of the Radio Marti project.

Other consulting clients have included First Union Bank, Arso Radio Group, Champion Broadcasting, The Florida Lottery, Strategy Research Corporation. Mr. Rumbaut has served as a Court Appointed Receiver for radio stations, WJCM-AM, Sebring, Florida and WHBS-AM, serving Orlando, Florida.

The company boasts its role in transactions for the first and second largest FM radio stations transacted in the United States, in Los Angeles and New York, respectively and in a wide variety of other transactions, ranging from the NBC and ABC affiliates in Buffalo and Honolulu to television networks and station groups in Chile to the largest AM radio station sold in the history of the California radio industry with individual transaction values ranging from $23 million to $250 million to it most recent transaction, the Time Brokerage Agreement of WAXY-AM, Miami for an ESPN based sports format.

The company’s transactions have involved leading broadcasters such as; Hearst-Argyle, CBS, Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation, Spanish Broadcasting Systems, Jefferson-Pilot Communications, Beasley Broadcast Group, Paxson Communications, NewCity Communications, TAK Communications, Citicasters, Z Spanish Radio, Liberman Broadcasting, Multicultural Radio, Douglas Broadcasting, Root Communications, TV Azteca, Grupo Copesa, Uno Radio Group and Merrill Lynch - Century Broadcasting, among others.

Mr. Rumbaut’s corporate and community service includes having served as a member of the Board of Directors of Telemundo, Inc., of Puerto Rico, The March of Dimes and as a Trustee of the Cuban - American National Foundation.

Mr. Rumbaut holds a BBA in Economics from the University of Miami (1976) and an MBA from the University of Miami’s prestigious Executive MBA Program (1978.) He is a Graduate of the RAB’s Radio Sales Management Program at Rutgers University and the NAB’s Broadcasting General Management Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
